If It's Dangerous, She Will Find It

Yesterday I did a little rearranging on the main floor -- moved one of the couches in front of the window & kitty-cornered the television.

I'm also in the process of babyproofing and creating as safe an environment as possible for little miss scooty bottom.

She's moving a mile a minute from room to room and sometimes down the hallway to the bathroom or the office. She's also seeking out each and every potential danger. Her fascination with the pet's water dish is astounding -- as is her love for wires.

We call her our little terror (or sometimes our little terrorist, though I feel that's a little less than PC).

One of her favourite new games is to move the tables -- the side table and coffee table are both super lightweight vintage pieces and she's figured out that she can push them wherever she'd like. This is a bit frustrating for the mama who now has nowhere safe for her tea/coffee to rest. Ha.

Though things are getting busier & busier with her newly found freedom, I absolutely LOVE watching her learn and explore and engage with her world. Now that she can follow me around, advance on the pets (who hide under the couch) and hunt down whatever she wants I feel like she's absorbing so much knowledge. She's my little baby sponge.

I can only imagine what my life will be like once she starts walking.

I'll start bracing myself now.

Scooter the Terror!! :)
It's amazing how she went from sitting in one spot happily enough, to not being happy unless she's on the move!

ps - love the new layout of the living room; it's totally conversational

That is fantastic news that she is having fun on the move! I agree, it is so amazing to watch the little ones learn their about environment and what they can do :)

Oh, my goodness what a new world for both of you: wait until she starts walking AND talking: a little human taking shape :)

Ditto to it all!
For a more an even more frightening experience add a gas fireplace and stairs.
Gah!
I wanted to ask how that natural parenting group is going! We are still interested in it!
Where did you get your paper lanterns?

Oh the natural parenting group is going quite well! We've had a few meetups and they've been fun :) Sadly G has been ill and I haven't attended the last too, but I think that's the case with several of the mama's and babes -- other than that we have a few meetups planned this month & I'm hoping to be able to attend!

(As for my paper lanters -- I got them on sale at Michaels -- haven't put them up yet, but I will soon! I think I need some fishing line!)

What is with the obsession over cords? OH MY GOSH! Lucia wants every cord in ever room. She seeks them out, she knows where they are ... it is crazy and I cannot keep her away.

These girls are in the same stage for sure... Danger is their game. Yikes! Must childproof.
Wish she could wear a helmet for a few weeks until she learns to balance .. the crashes are killing me when she pulls up.

I had no idea you had a home birth. Way cool. I deleted my post about it because I think it upset one of my friends. She thought I was being negative about home births, but really I was not. I think it is a wonderful thing, it is just not right for me. I hope that you did not find my words offensive. I am not a controversial person and hate conflict. Thank you for your comment. I will be looking through your blog archive so that I can learn about your birth!

Blessings - SG
