Her Very First Christmas Stocking

Good evening!

I figured that since my daughter hasn't quite mastered the computer yet it might be safe to share one of her presents with you.

After weeks of searching, I finally found her the perfect stocking:

This sweet little stuffable hails from Boojibootique & I'm smitten.

I actually only ordered this last night, so there's a good chance it may not grace our mailbox until after Christmas, however, better late than never, oui?

We're starting a lot of traditions for little G this year & this will be one of them.

(We're also going to get her new Christmas jammy jams (aka pajamas) each year -- this year I bought them at JOE & they're very sweet. I'll share photos after Christmas morning, of course. We're also going to find one special ornament for her each year, which, when she's grown -- oh goodness -- she will take with her to her first home and oh my I can't even think about this yet, but I'm sure you know what I'm getting at.)

What special Christmas traditions are you starting this year? Who is gearing up to celebrate their first holiday season with their less-than-one-year-old?

I just feel all choked up when I think about her first Christmas & I'm so exhilarated -- just ten more days, mes amis!

While the merry bells keep ringing,
May your every wish come true.
May the calendar keep bringing
Happy holidays to you.

Aw, that's really sweet. I like the idea of starting a tradition, something she'll grow up loving!

My little boy is almost 9 months. I've been busy decorating our home for Christmas, this time it felt important to do so as it's his first! This weekend we're taking him to a photographer to get some nice photos of him just before Christmas.
Don't know about starting any new traditions, but it's a nice idea and definitely something worth thinking about!

We are working (even though we have historically been holiday louses) to makes things lovely for our leedle bit. We made an advent calendar and this weekend we're going to make her a stocking.

Oddly enough, we happened upon the jammy tradition on a sitcom and decided it would make a nice ritual for us. I think this year we're all going to get silly owl pjs on x-mas eve to wear on the big morning.

i STILL get christmas pajamas from my mum every year on christmas eve, and she's started buying them for my husband as well ;)
when we moved into our new house, steve started buying me a new ornament every year - i hope this continues, as it's always so fun to take each one out of its wrapper when we decorate and remember which year he bought it and why. so great to have traditions, christmas is still special to me even though i've grown up and moved out and have no kids yet...all because my parents always went out of their way to make it magical and exciting. good on you, gretchen will thank you later!

I love the stocking, that is just too cute.

My baby girl is turning 1 three days before Christmas. We are trying to come up with birthday and Christmas traditions that will help each stand apart and be special. I was planning on the ornament already, although I hadn't thought as far ahead as you with her taking them when she grows up, I'm not ready for that yet. :)

I like the PJ idea, that's cute.

I love the stocking! It's so perfect! We're also celebrating my daughter's first Christmas. So far, our only traditions are giving to Charity. We haven't thought of much.

We are away from home and spending the Holidays with my family in the States =).

we do a "twelve days of christmas" type deal with gage. we will be on the road half the day, driving to different family locations on christmas day, and gage will be getting so many toys from our family that his gifts from us will just get lost in the shuffle.

so we let him pick out a small package each day to open. that way he actually gets to enjoy his toys, instead of being overwhelmed.

Super sweet stocking. I'm interested in hearing what you have to say about attachment parenting. Have you done a post about it?

It's funny, I'm an experienced Mum of four children. With my first, I was told to have a strict routine, which I did and I have always felt that, in some way, it affected the bonding between my daughter and myself. Every baby I had since I have become more and more relaxed about parenting, and while structure is something I have to have in my day, I feel like I've developed a much more nurturing way of Mothering.

Keep on keeping on.
