Playsilk Love

I've recently begun my own personal studies in the Waldorf way of life. It's something that I've always been interested and it truly speak to me, and to the simplistic way of life that we are moving toward. I'm still a beginner at this point, but hope to learn as much as I possibly can.

To start, I ordered some lovely playsilks to dye for baby G. They arrived in the mail the other day and I've since dyed two of them, using the natural dyeing tutorial from Bluebirdbaby.

Pot one: cranberry tea, pot two: blueberries!

Soaking up all of the lovely colour.

Drying on the line.

Waiting in the wind.

The colours are a little off since I took these pictures at dusk, but if you visit my previous post you can see how the purple (blueberry) silk turned out.

I can't wait to try out some different colours -- must remember to find some tumeric!

...

PS. If you have any favourite Waldorf inspired blogs or websites that you enjoy yourself, I'd love for you to share. Merci.

I feel sort of ridiculous for asking, but... what is a playsilk, exactly?

Heh, don't feel ridiculous! :) It really is just what it sounds like -- a piece of silk, usually dyed some pretty colour or pattern -- the idea is that they can be used for open ended play ie. for a costume, puppets, making forts -- anything!

That's neat. Got me thinking I wonder if this new internet/video game age we're in is really affecting the imaginations and creativity of our children.... already seems like this new generation of kids are doing things differently than just our generation. I spent like 75% of my childhood outdoors or playing some sort of imaginative games with friends or with myself (funny how being an only child really brings out your imagination, lol.) Kind of sad... this Waldorf thing seems like a good thing.

I am so interested in it too and also just a beginner...
I ordered the May Guide from little acorn learning just out of curiousity as I think that is how I would love to "structure/base" our homeschooling/unschooling.
I also have a few books...it can be overwhelming when you are new to it with all of the new things and ways to celebrate!
