Things Are Good Here

Yesterday I worked outside for the morning -- brought out our old kitchen table & a chair onto the porch, sat in the sunshine (squinting at my netbook) and took some time to breathe in as much air as I could. I promise I was actually much happier than this photo seems to have captured -- blame the iPhone, blame the cramps.

Things are good here.

p.s. I am going to be in touch about the doula birth thing...I am currently in denial that I have to give birth again in 17-ish weeks.

Oh P.S. Whenever we are ready to have a kid you are welcome to come down and visit Portland and be my Doula :) I was born at home, as was my brother, and I intend to carry on the tradition.

My mom has nothing but amazing things to say about the ladies that helped her with our births! I think it is a much healthier way to do things than to go to the hospital (especially in America!)

Apples & Honey: Take your time :) I'm happy to talk anytime!

Roxanne: Awe, I'm glad you're still reading :D I have people compliment your painting so much -- you're basically famous around here!
And yay for homebirths! I don't think I know anyone in my age group-ish who wasn't born in a hospital -- so neat :) It's such a beautiful experience!

Your hair is fantastic, it looks so soft! I sometimes dream of hair like yours but I have learned to love my curls.

On the topic of birth: if one is not quite comfortable with a home birth but is also not interested in a hospital birth, what are the options? Are there some sort of holistic birthing centers? Because if there aren't, there should be.

Well, there's always having a midwife in the hospital, which is a little more comfortable to some -- and there are also birthing centers, though in my area we don't have one yet. I believe they are more prevalent in the states, but I'm not 100%.

Although I am not pregnant at the moment, I would love to have you as my doula for our 3rd! As long as you don't mind traveling 6 hours ;-).

Heh, well 6 hours would be a bit of a commute! Esp. with a 3rd baby!! :D
