Day 03: A Close-Up Of My Day

The babe & I woke up sometime around seven, ate some breakfast -- oatmeal with lovely little currants -- and I walked her down the street to daycare for 8am.

At home, Sir Winston was waiting for me -- always such a dapper fellow.

I was craving something sweet, so I grabbed for my monster sized jar of Nutella. Afterwards, I got down to working -- cleaning a little, typing a lot. That sort of thing.

The boy went to pick up Gretchen at about 1/4 after 11 for her nursing break. After her milk, she ran outside -- sans shoes -- to chase the cat.

After I brought her back to daycare, I returned home and wrote a quick shopping list so that the boy & I could run a few errands. (I ended up forgetting the list, but, for the first time in my life, remember to purchase everything that was one it. Miracle upon miracles.)

After the grocery store, we stopped at our local bakery. I had an awful headache, so I waited for the boy to return with...

...some gorgeous pumpernickel bread.

While I chopped veggies and readied our chicken noodle soup for this evening (all praise the crockpot), Ryan whipped us up a glorious brunch. Eggs (with oregano/parsley), maple bacon & hashbrowns. Yum, yum. I drank tea. The boy drank coffee.

Later on, still battling my headache/bodyache, I lay on the couch with a cup of tea by my side & a little SATC on the screen. (Can you spot the chalk scribblings on our credenza?)

I've always thought my eyes were kind of a bizarre colour. I wondered if Gretchen's eyes might turn out the same, but she's definitely inherited her daddy's baby browns.

Ahh, tea with a dollop of local honey & a swig of soy.

At 4.30pm, I stepped out our front door, said "hello" to our pumpkins, and made my way back down the street to fetch the babe.

Just a few more steps... not even a block away.

Gretchen has been fighting off a wee bit of a cold too, so we nursed lots and lots, watched a little television, read books ("Weed dah book?), ate my tasty crock pot concoction & snuggled on the couch. Eventually, bedtime rolled around and after refusing tubby time (with a few screams and tears), she nursed to sleep & I tucked her in warmly.

The rest of the night has been spent listening to Christmas albums & dreaming about the next two magical months.

And that, in a nutshell, was my day. Happy November 3rd, dear hearts. I hope yours was wonderful too. Peace, and sleep well.

PS. The boy has also joined in on my 30 Days Hath November posting. You can follow him here.
