We Just Can't Get Enough Of Babywearing

The little miss, modeling the outward facing front cross carry in our swank cuddlywrap. She LOVES being worn like this and examining the world.

Please enjoy some fantastic babywearing links that I have come across lately:

♥ A beautiful sideshow of babywearing in indigenous cultures.
We still get stared at when I wear Gretchen downtown & I rarely see other mama's wearing their babes. When I do see babywearers it's always a Bjorn. I'm SURE there are more wrap mamas out there -- I just have to find them! Also, if someone mistakes Gretchen for a puppy one more time I may just scream.

PhD in Parenting shows us how she nurses in a ring sling.
I love being able to wear Gretchen & feed her at the same time. Eating on the run & hands free is great.

♥ Two great communities that I have used for wearing ideas & instructional videos are The Baby Wearer & Wear Your Baby.
It's really fun to try all of the different ways that you can wear your babes. Learn a new position today -- you little one might love it!

A month of babywearing in photos from Carry Me, Mama.
This mother uses all sorts of slings in different positions. There are some really fantastic examples here.

These mama's get to wear their babes at work! How fabulous!

♥ Tales from a babywearing ambassador.

If you have any favourite babywearing links, photos or stories, please pass them on! Merci, merci!

Enjoy the babywearing love, mes amis.

Before my baby was born I wanted to wear her all the time. Now I've found that it's hard to do around the house because I'm either sitting down or doing something that requires bending over (or else I'm cooking and I'm afraid of burning her at the stove). I don't use the stroller much; all our shopping and walking is done in either the bjorn or the baby hawk, but I can't seem to get the hang of it around the house. Is it even practical? Tips?

What a gorgeous babywearing photo! Thanks for all the great links. My babywearing time with sunnyboy is nearly over but he wanted to go to the shops in a hip sling today so it's not over yet :) I shall miss our babywearing days when they are over but I'm so very glad we've had them. You have a lovely blog and I'm pleased to find it, going to follow along now :)

@jj keith: sometimes it is hard to wear them inside, but Gretchen will often tolerate being worn while I sit and type, and once they are big enough wearing them on your back will be great for doing thins like dishes, cooking, laundry and other housework type things! I love wearing her in the house -- sometimes it's the only way she'll nap! Just keep trying different positions & hopefully you'll find one that you're both comfortable in!

sunnymama: awe, I hope I can wear Gretchen for a few years at least *fingers crossed* Thanks for visiting my blog -- I'm happy to meet you!

abby sue: ring slings are so versatile too! Gretchen loves being in a little kangaroo type pouch!

I'm happy to meet you too :) I thought I would still be regularly babywearing for longer than this (sunnyboy is not yet 3 yrs) especially as I see so many children older than him pushed in buggies/strollers but he walks nearly everywhere now, and I don't drive so we do a lot of walking. He was always carried, never put in a pram or buggy, and I now feel that babywearing meant he was already used to 'walking' so that's why he walks so far and happily now. Babywearing is the best and I'm so happy whenever I see other babies being worn :)

The Babywearer is one of my favorite sites!

I wore my daughter right up until she was 2. She lost interest after that. I still put her in the ring sling once in awhile when she asks, however its hard as her 4 month old sister is being worn in the sling now ;).

Cute picture!

We wear ZJ, Simon actually wears him more than i do now hes the stay at home parent. I would wear him while we are out and about but he usually falls asleep in the carseat on the way to somewhere and we dont want to wake him.

Wearing baby makes life easier as well as more cuddly.

I am a wrap mama!! I never see anyone else with their baby in a wrap either. But that doesn't stop me. Yes, people stare but she loves it. We were at a baseball game the other night and she was tired and bored and she actually pulled her wrap out of the diaper bag and gave it to me to tell me to put her in it. And she is only 8 months old. She loves that thing and so do I :)
