Life & Love In 380 Square Feet

I recently came across this LA Times article (via Ohdeedoh) about a family living in a tiny little home in Echo Park with their 9 month old babe & their dog. I find myself completely smitten with their space & their philosophies.

“When you have this small a space, every decision is critical. You can only have things that fit within the scale of this space. And these are all things I have wanted for a long time.”

“Everyone who comes over says, ‘Wow, it's so cute,' but I know they are thinking, ‘Wow, it's so small.”

“I don’t think we’re so crazy. The way that most people structure their living situations is so the parents are most happy. But who’s to say that a kid wants to be in a room down a hall?”

“People tell you [that you] need all this stuff for a baby. All you really need is diapers, a place to change him and boobs.”

Amen.

Oh right on! Its funny how bogged down everyone gets in things FOR the baby that they forget to just BE with their little one... I loved this article; all the photos and insights into their living space. Inspiration for us all. Love to you and your fawns today!

I love love LOVE it! I would adore living in a little house like this and getting rid of all our CRAP. If you want to see some more inspirational places (and some of these are TEENY tiny,) search for "Tumbleweed Tiny House Company." It's my retirement plan!

I totally understand -- we love our cozy little wartime home. It's the perfect size for a mama, a daddio, a babe, two cats & a dog :)

I love that. I'm a single parent with a 6 month old daughter. We live in a one bedroom condo which is perfect for our situation. I wouldn't want her to be in another room down the hall from me anyway. :)
