The Day She Fell Asleep Without Me

For the second time today, Gretchen fell asleep & didn't wake up when I transferred her to our bed for a nap. This morning she didn't need me to nurse her to sleep & just now, when I laid down, she didn't need me to nurse her down.

She didn't need me. Oh my word.

She usually likes me to lay with her for a while & nurse until she drifts off and I sneak away and close the door softly behind me. Has she slowly built herself up to being self sufficient when i comes to napping? I think I might be 1/2 excited & 1/2 offended. She actually didn't need me to fall asleep.

Four & a 1/2 months old and growing up so fast.
Mama has needs too, little one.
Stay small just a little while longer.

(I love this jumper so much I can't bring myself to put anything on her.)

jasmine said...: awww! she's becoming a tiny little big girl! that's great that she fell asleep on her own! it must be hard when you start to realize your children don't need you as much anymore. but i guess that's the job of parents - do the best they can to send their children out into the world to live good lives. don't worry though - she's going to need you for a very long time still! and even when she doesn't "need" you, she'll still need you. :)

My little one (who is attached as I type this) was doing so great until about 5 months and now she wakes up after 30 minutes if I am not right there by her.
