Small Style No. 14

This morning marked the third time that Gretchen rode her bike to daycare. To be fair, we only live a block away, but there was still something so grownup about watching her look both ways and cross the street next to me -- bump! -- into the curb across the way. She's so sweet, and so independent.

Shoes: When she takes her "Crocs" off, she always yells, "Lookit my mucky feets!"

And, as usual, we're linking our Small Style up over at Mama Loves Papa.

A Girl & Her Bike

my little flyer

Baby G's dreams came true this weekend. After spending the last few weeks searching high and low for a little bike (one that was just the right size & wouldn't break the bank) I finally had the pleasure of gifting a lovely red Radio Flyer trike to my daughter.

She's been eying up the neighbourhood kids' bikes/trikes/scooters for quite some time and I knew this was the summer for her biking adventures to begin. She's been up and down our sidewalk countless times since Saturday, and has already mastered peddling. Colour me impressed.

She's fantastic.

And the look on her face as she realized this little red bit of wonder was hers and hers alone? Beyond brilliant.

PS. Many thanks to our lovely neighbour, Caren, who spotted this little beauty at a nearby yard sale and came home to let us know! One quick car trip and $15 later = one VERY happy two year old. Merci!

PPS. She still loves mama's bike... which also just happens to match...

Pretty Girls & Their Bikes

Delightful, yes? Springtime is all about renewing my bike love each year! And that Elizabeth Taylor, what a phenomenal woman. I watched National Velvet again a few nights ago... it always makes me so happy in my heart.

Hope you're having a charming Saturday evening, mes amis.

Bike Season Has Arrived (And I've Already Injured Myself)!

bike season is here

Good idea: Biking! All sorts of biking! Biking for the first time this season. Biking with Gretchen towed behind me in the Chariot. Biking all around the park & feeling the Spring breeze in our hair.

Bad idea: Biking with a sore wrist which has spent more time in a brace this week than not. Carpal tunnel, repetitive stress syndrome... whatever it is, I've made it worse. Even typing is uncomfortable, so I'll keep this short. I suppose I ought to lock my bike back up for a week or two til my wrist is happy again.

Sigh...

A Warm Welcome

The boy snapped this shot this morning as I biked home from the gym. Little G was so happy to greet me!

Swoon.

Bicycle Box Love

I'm thinking that my sexy red cruiser would be rather smitten with a pretty little box like this on her rump!

I can't wait until Mother Nature decides to grace us with some serious biking weather. (I'm also excited to hook our Chariot up to the bike -- but first we need to fit G for a wee helmet!)

Does your bike have a basket, or a box? Do you bike with your little ones?

Hoping For A Safe Return

See that pretty, pretty bike? I believe I've mentioned her before. She's a gorgeous Schwinn cruiser & I love her to death. She was a gift from Ryan's mama & yesterday she was stolen.

Grumble.

I'd lent my bike to a friend (since I'm not able to use her at the moment, as Gretchen is still a tiny baby & we don't yet have a bike trailer) and yesterday she was stolen from her parking spot outside a cafe downtown.

Our downtown area is tiny & seeing how my cruiser is quite recognizable, I'm hoping for a swift return... however... you never know when it comes to matters such as these.

Tomorrow we will be filling a report (thank goodness I take photos of EVERYTHING) and my fingers are crossed that someone friendly will spot her and bring her home!!

I just miss my girl.

Le sigh.
