Gretchen snapped this picture when we were at the cafe a few days ago. She had been feeing them crumbs to bring them closer to us. Some like to hop right onto the table to snack on muffin bits -- a tiny bird took 1/2 a scone from my plate once.

Not Your Typical Ontario March

We've been doing a lot of this lately. Our neck of the woods happens to be experiencing record setting temperatures and everyone has been taking advantage of the sunshine & warmth. Last March there was still snow on the ground for a few weeks... this year we're putting on Badgers and eating ice cream in sundresses. It's insane. And we're LOVING it.

Been out on the bike every single day, the Chariot is back in action & we've been making trips down to the park where G likes to wade in the water cool water. My cheeks are even a bit sun-kissed.

Carefully stacked woodpiles, sweet green cottages, pine, sap, brisk lakes, tiptoeing on docks and dipping legs in chilly waters, wide eyes, stone steps, wistful glances & "Eskimo kisses", hugs in the sunlight, dreaming dreams, sky high, cucumber crunchers, bountiful gardens, happy pups, barefoot down the lane, radishes the size of apples, fuzzy friends asleep between the weeds, cozy larvae, pulling weeds and dirty fingernails, cabbage, tomatoes, potatoes, onions, lettuce, marigolds, row by row, putting things together, wondering, planning, good vibes & happy sighs. Plaid and woolen lace, smiling tears, a touch of grace.

After a beautifully sunny day, filled with a trip to the market and a mama-baby snooze in the afternoon, Miss Gretchen and I played hide-and-seek in the park til eyes were being rubbed and yawns were plentiful.

A fabulous end to our Saturday.

Tomorrow morning? A mother's day brunch with five generations: Gretchen, myself, my ma, my gramma & Oma.
