At The Pumpkin Patch

A visit to the pumpkin patch is another cherished tradition for my little girl, so, on our Thanksgiving weekend, my partner and I brought Gretchen to Buckhorn to spend a morning at the berry farm.

One of her favourite parts about the trip is feeding the goats. She loves them nibbling at her palms... she giggles the entire time and speaks to them in her tiny, sweet, whisper of a voice that she reserves for speaking to animals and babies. It's adorable.

And of course... the bouncy castle/slide of magical wonderfulness is another favourite stop. She'd have stayed on this all day long.

I've adored taking these snapshots.... but I nearly forgot to take one this year til G was romping around at the back of my ma's backyard that morning after our Thanksgiving breakfast.

Sadly, this'll be the last time this image will be taken in this exact spot... she's sold it and will be moving come the New Year. Hopefully she'll bring the bench & Mr. Rusty to the new house and I'll be able to continue my tradition there.

If Gretchen would have consented to standing still a moment I'd have snapped her toes in the photo too, but I think she was chasing puppies at the time, and trying to swing "higher! higher!" on her tiny swingset. So sweet.

Happy Thanksgiving, Mes Amis

From all of us here at the House of Fawn, HAPPY THANKSGIVING to our fellow Canucks. Lots of love, and I hope you're all enjoying some seriously stunning weather as well. Honestly, friends... it's 26°C right now -- practically unheard of for this time of year. I don't remember every having a Thanksgiving where I wanted to be wearing a summery dress and flip flops. C to the razy.

Anyhow, we took advantage of the insanenly spectacular weather this morning, by taking a walk through the park, in and out of all the well worn paths -- photos to come. Also, this time, by we, I mean myself, Gretchen, and our new housemate, Shannon. Don't worry, I'll introduce her soon. She's lovely and she makes me tea when I'm feeling down.

So Thankful

It might be Wednesday already, but I think I'm still full from our two fabulous Thanksgiving weekend dinners. My gosh.

I am thankful for good food, great friends, time with family & lots of laughs. For orange leaves, pumpkin spiced beverages, cozy ponchos & drives through the country. For my gorgeous daughter & my handsome partner. For love, for life, for everything that makes us smile.

I barely remembered to pull my camera out for either of our big meals -- one at a friend's home and one at my mother's -- but I did remember to snap lots of pics on our trip to the pumpkin patch.

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day to visit the patch.

We were a little disappointed to see that the petting zoo which we enjoyed so much last year, was no longer there, but we were able to say hello to some goats and baby piggies through the fence. (There was also a gorgeous little brown calf that I really wanted to take home for a snuggle.)

All in all, our day at the patch was wonderful and now our two bright orange pumpkins sit proudly along our front walkway, waiting for the day they'll be turned into lovely jack-o's! Which reminds me that I've got to get started on Gretchen's costume!

To all of my Canadian friends, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! And to my American amis, I'm sure we'll be joining in next month for round no. 2 (since the boy used to live in the states and likes to celebrate BOTH days of Thanks -- and who can argue with that?)

And for now, I'm off to sip my Peace Tea, read a little & fall into a pre-bed stupor on the couch with lots and lots of blankets.

To those who celebrate, I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving. My partner, who lived in the states for a few years, suggested that this year we do a little Thanksgiving dinner of our own, in addition to the Canadian Thanksgiving that we took part in last month. I'm currently in the process of cooking my very first pork roast & we're spending the day together, with Gretchen, watching Christmassy movies, drinking egg nog & enjoying time as a family.

Thanksgiving Chez Ma Mère

My partner & I live in the city, in the middle of downtown on the 3rd floor of a very old building. This being said, it was so nice to get out to my mother's house this evening where Autumn is in full swing & the view is gorgeous.

















This little man would be my mother's pug, Leeroy. He may not be the sharpest little pup, but he's oh so adorable.

I'm so glad that I brought my camera out tonight (not that I should ever be without her anyhow). This is my favourite season & it's such a shame when it passes so quickly. I'm so happy that it's still so warm out these days -- perhaps that means we can fend of the snow for a while yet & enjoy Autumn to its fullest.

Edit: I've had much more energy lately (thank goodness for the 2nd trimester!) & I'm thinking about opening my Etsy shop up again soon. Keep an eye out for new prints. I have missed it so.
