Happy Birthday, Mister

Thank you for being my best friend, and a wonderful figure in my daughter's life. Thank you for being my partner, for taking care of me when I was deliriously sick, for being so supportive and always believing in me. Thank you for making me laugh -- every single day. Thank you for wrapping my Christmas present like Rowan Atkinson. Thank you for knowing me so well, for finishing my sentences, and for tolerating my perpetual clumsiness. 

You mean the world to me. And I adore you.

Lilacs Are My Favourite

The lilacs are just starting to blossom in our neck of the woods. I can't wait til they're all out in full bloom, so I can bring them inside & fill our home with their intoxicating, romantic scent. Even Gretchen knows how much her mama loves them.

I hope your day is getting off to a beautiful start, friends. This morning I'm off to meet a friend for coffee before we both head downtown to work. The weekend is nearly here... and with it? Our camping trip. More about that soon. I'm practically twitchy with excitement!

Springtime Ch-Ch-Changes

Springtime all about change, and this year, that couldn't be more true.

Mid-March, Gretchen and myself, will be living with my wonderful partner, Rich. A move across town & the start of a new phase in our lives. It is never a simple choice to begin a relationship with someone as a single mother -- and as we move towards growing our love into a life together, I feel nothing but happiness. Choosing Rich to be someone so important in my daughter's life has been an absolutely organic decision. Beginning as friends, I knew he would always be someone special in my life. We grew together, moved around each other and fell in love. My daughter is smitten and has developed such a fondness for this man -- the most kindhearted, generous, loving, caring, brilliant man. And I fall for him in new ways every single day.

Spring is all about change. Positive. Welcomed with an open heart. 

The 2nd Annual #PeterTweeter Awards!

It's that time of year again!

Last year, some fine folks in my beloved city came up with the idea to do a local awards show based on Twitter... and so, the #PeterTweeter Awards were born! It was a roaring success & such a fun night. I was nominated for a couple categories and ended up winning:

Another Little Valentine

Happy Last Day Of 2012, Mes Amis!

So excited to see what 2013 will hold! Looking back, 2012 was a year of NEW and CHANGE and WHOA and HAPPY. Not a bad mix, methinks! I bought a store, G and I moved, and my best friend became my love, my partner. 2012 is a year to propel me forward, to move ahead, to keep the momentum.

So Much More Than A Bag

On Christmas morning, my mister took a note from one of my favourite movies, Love Actually, and wrapped up my gift exactly like the one in this scene.

The first two gifts I opened were...

Followed by...

He even included a sprig of holly. By far, the sweetest, most thoughtful gift I've ever received.

And inside?

A necklace he chose from my favourite jewelry line. This message holds a lot of significance for us & I'm honoured to be his partner.

To my fantastic mister, I adore you more than I can say. Thank you for being you. Thank you for everything. We are inseparable. My heart and your heart. I love you.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I promise to post more images from Gretchen's Christmas adventures. We had such a wonderful 2 1/2 days of joy & bliss together. And my heart just melts with the realization that she'll turn four at the end of next month.

Day 16: Someone Who Inspires Me

There is someone by my side who inspires me daily and reminds me what I'm capable of. I generally refer to his as my mister, but I suppose I ought to tell you his name is Rich.

He believes in me & wants me to succeed in everything I attempt. He inspires me in his unfailing dedication & kindness. 

He makes me laugh til my cheeks hurt, he's brilliant, creative and incredibly hard-working. He makes me want to be a better me. And I don't even care if that sounds corny, it's true.
